Grandes Managers: Mitaka [Interview]

Interviewer (Pipo68)

1º Presentation to the community: real name, age, place of birth and current residence, which you study or work, likes and hobbies …

Mitaka

MitakaMy name is Dimitar Bozhilov, 46 yo. I’m living in Bulgaria, in Kokaliane – small village near Sofia. I love our garden, especially one part of it – a fireplace, with benches around (the bЕЕrbecue ;).

Interviewer:

2º To be the developer of the game and know it well, you have a mediocre team, lack of time ?, little motivation? … what can you tell us?

Mitaka

I started developing Goleada, because I wanted to play different game. At beginning I thought I will play competitively. But in fact, there was no time for that. Every time I logged in Goleada there was something urgent to do – a lot of can’t-wait-tasks. Always. No time for “competitive play” 🙂

Anyway I have never needed titles and medals, the development was so interesting. Amazing time – waterfall of ideas, that resulted in current Goleada.

Interviewer:

3º “Kuker (kykep)”, “Mitaka” … what does the name of your team and your nickname mean to you?

Mitaka

“Kuker”: I was born in Yambol, a Bulgarian city in a region often called Kukerland, because of a centuries-old tradition intended to scare away evil spirits. Men and boys (Kukeri) dress up in furs and animal skins, put scary masks on their faces, and jump with huge bells tied around their waists. It is believed that the Kukeri monsters are so ugly that any real monster would run away screaming.

“Mitaka”: In Bulgaria we use very often short names. Dimitar has a lot of such – Mitaka, Mitko, Mitashki, Mitre, Mite.

Interviewer:

4º This question may make you a little uncomfortable, I’m sorry but I have to ask you … Will you do something with the approved committee proposals?

Mitaka

I accept and always accepted the committee decisions as orders, that should be fulfilled. No way to think about them – thinking is already done. So – when I return to game development I will fulfill them. There is a lot of work, it needs a lot of time.

Hope someday I will have time for that. And not only to finish all that long postponed tasks (not only committee proposals), but for further development as well. My dream is not reached yet.

Interviewer:

5º Do you have a special predilection for a manager from Goleada? Who? Why?

Mitaka

Yes, for many managers. I will not write their names, because they are so many and I fear that will miss someone.

I want to thank to all Goleada managers. Together we created this game, game-environment and game community, that bring fun to a lot of people. I want to thank to all your support in any way – ideas, staff tasks, financial support, community support, strong passion, shared knowledge and etc., etc., ect.

Interviewer:

6º If you went back, what would you change of goals? And if you could, what would you innovate in?

Mitaka

I’ve just went back to the absolute-beginning in my thoughts…

I was in front of my laptop, in the “office” in the garden, exactly to the bЕЕrbecue. A friend of mine (Ji – probably some of you know him) was my guest and I’ve showed him what I experimented this day. 22 points (11 in red, 11 in blue) were moving in a green rectangle and all they do – was passing each other a white dot. Sometimes they made bad pass, and the other color proceeds. Nothing more. No goals there, no shots, no tackles, no duels. Just passing. But LIVE.

I was very excited (as usual when I try something new). My friend was not so much – because he had seen more than 10 “exciting projects” started from me until that moment (and they all failed).

Anyway – my target (goal) at this time was clear – player individuality and live games. The opposite of summarized sectors and pre-calculated games.

And now I see that this main goal is reached. Together with it, the community was born and generated a lot of ideas. It was like small river, that collects another small river, and another, and another… Everything was on the table, no fear that it not exists on another game, or it is difficult. Great time, great passion, great experince.

Some things were postponed for the better future. For example – player history. It was postponed, although it was 99% ready, because of lacking of storage.

In summary – the goals were not missed, because there were no goals. It was an improvisation 🙂

Interviewer:

7º 2 anecdotes, one from your real life and the other from Goleada that make us laugh or cry …

Mitaka

(Real life) When my child Irina was very small (still not speaking), we both were at one playground with many other children and their mothers. I was the only dad. The children were playing, running, climbing – the adults stay around. Suddenly a child shouts “Mom!”. And everyone started laughing because a fat, mustache and bearded mother was running to her child. But very smiling, because for the first time the child called her by a word. The child was Irina, the “mother” was me 🙂

(Goleada) At the beginning of the KOVID epidemic, I decided to help people during quarantine by launching a free supporter for everyone. But at one point I received message from a new user that he would report me to some EU institutions because he received a supporter without wanting to. He said – “This is a scam”. It took me half a day and dozens of emails to explain that I was not doing anything bad. I don’t know if he understood me … To laugh, or to cry?

Interviewer:

8º Have you done any kedada (managers’ meeting) anywhere in the world to meet them personally? … If the answer is no, what do you think if it was organized?

Mitaka

No. I was very to close to it twice. And in both – the problem was the time. In Coimbra – we (my family) were very short of time. In Tuscany – we (again my family) were several years before I met my friends from there 🙂

I will be very happy to meet my Goleada friends. Hope it will happen some day.

Interviewer:

9º I am a good analyzer of people for their gestures, their nicknames, their photos, their words and I can tell you that you have the face of a good person … Would you dare to analyze in a word 5 managers of Goleada of your choice?

Mitaka

I don’t believe in first impression. I was wrong many times before, so I don’t want to analyze anybody before I knew him very well. In fact, I would like not to analyze anybody. You never know how he could surprise you with the opposite that you expect.

Interviewer:

10º Imagine Goleada in 5 years with 50,000 active managers (impossible nothing) … what would you do ?, what would you change or improve?

Mitaka

It is very simple – I will employ people that will bring the game to another stage. Will improve engine, 3D, design, UX. Hope this will guarantee steady development.

Interviewer:

11º In a word and a quick thought, tell us the first thing you think about each of these words:

Mitaka

FOOD: dreams
CITY: my birth place
SOCCER: my dad
COLOR: black
LOVE: my family and job
FRIEND: (s) Katia, Ceco, Ji, Plamen, Galia, Mitaka, Muzha, Jiveto, Chamov, Sveto, Joro, Drumev, Ludmil, (Marin)… I’m sure I’m missing someone, there are many people I can hug.
